AUTHOR INTRODUCTION

Hello, my name is Denise. I've always had an interest in reading since a young age, particularly fiction. This briefly extended to a writing phase in high school and thus I wanted to explore creative writing in this module. Throughout this semester, I found that I was able to come up with ideas fairly easily but expanding on and refining the idea is where I struggle most. Especially given that I am in creative media and all my stories will typically manifest in a visual format. This was also my first time taking a stab at poetry, especially writing it with other people.

Overall, I found this module helpful in developing my skills as a story teller and what can be added or improved upon within a story. I also realised I am greatly aided by music as it tends to inspire me in various ways.

SHORT STORY

Story Title: Once I Knew You

Description: Locked away in his rooms, a nobleman grapples with the trauma of having seen his spouse murdered in front of him the night before.

My style of writing tends to be heavily descriptive so I decided on writing a more introspective. Partially inspired by the song Trust Me Not (Hero and Villain Duet) by Backseat Vagabond which centers themes of betrayal and not knowing who exactly is the hero and villain in a story which felt like it matched well with 'Good vs Evil'.

MONOLOGUE

Description: A girl trapped in a time loop and seeing death constantly, is venting her feelings of despair.

Inspired by the song Kagerou Daze by IA Project, a song with a similar theme of death and time loops.

POETRY ANTHOLOGY

Group members:
Jayden & Azriq

Anthology title: Shadows Cast by Time

Description: Depicting the theme of 'Goth and Gore' by exploring the haunting and depressing gore that may coat the memories of a man who has suffered through war.
