Week 3 (15/9/2022)

LECTURE

Introduction to Photoshop - Lasso tool, Pen tool & layering
Lasso tool to make selections - best used with graphic tablet - detects the pixels of the image
Pen tool to create paths from scratch - creates the pixels
Layers are the different images that are stacked on top of each other

TUTORIAL
Instructed to start Project 1B. We have to download the images provided. We have to open an A4 size vertical canvas with international paper.
Drop images in Photoshop and use pen or lasso to select parts of the image. Use pen tool - shapes to select irregular shapes. Use Ctrl + / - to zoom in and hold spacebar to move around. To select an area Ctrl & click and then copy and paste the selection into the preferred layer. If it is difficult to trace yet the background is flat, use the magic wand to select the unwanted flat area and delete it. Ctrl + T to transform size and hold shift to maintain the scale. Have an idea or plan before cutting out the images to avoid wasting time.
We have to create 3 different types of composition.

PRACTICAL

We were allowed to start on the digital collages using the techniques learnt during tutorial. I didn't manage to complete this composition during class but I have put it here for progress' sake.

First attempt at digital collage

The continuation of this task will be recorded in the main Project 1 post.
